No Longer The Image of Adam
by Rev. Sam Powell

God created man in the image and likeness of God, to reflect as a mirror the righteousness, wisdom, love and beauty of his Creator.
But when Seth, the son of Adam was born, Moses said that he was born in the image of Adam (Genesis 5:3). Murder, wrath, anger, malice, fornication, and covetousness from an evil heart has characterized all of mankind ever since. It has been said that the depravity of mankind is one of the few doctrines of scripture that is empirically verified.
But this was not how God would leave the world. He sent His only begotten Son, the express image of the Father, to take our sins and nail them to His cross. Jesus Christ the Righteous One of God unites us to Himself by faith, conforming us to His image, which is the image of God. We are then restored to be as God had created us to be. No longer the image of Adam; but the image of God.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
